He read medicine at the Gülhane Military Medical Faculty and began practising in 2004 as a junior doctor at GATA.
His first postings were in the field: from 2005 to 2007 with the 3rd Mountain and Commando Battalion in Şemdinli, Hakkari, and from 2007 to 2008 at the infirmary of the 50th Regiment's 2nd Mechanised Infantry Battalion with the Cyprus Turkish Peace Force. Those years taught him to apply medicine with what was to hand.
He began his surgical residency at the GATA Department of General Surgery in 2008, completing it in 2013, then worked as a general surgeon at Elazığ Military Hospital from 2013 to 2015. In 2014 he was posted to the Turkish Representation in Prizren, Kosovo.
Between 2015 and 2017 he completed a fellowship in gastroenterological surgery at Gülhane Training and Research Hospital. The subspecialty covers the whole digestive tract — oesophagus to rectum, including the liver and pancreas. His doctoral thesis examined the optimal duration of remote ischaemic preconditioning for preserving liver function in major hepatic resection.
He worked at Batman Regional State Hospital in 2018 and, from 2019 to 2023, in the Department of Gastroenterological Surgery at Gülhane Training and Research Hospital. He was made an associate professor in 2023, retired at his own request the same year, and joined İzmir Cerrahi Merkezi. He is a member of the Turkish Surgical Association.
